Wooden Venetian blinds made to measure in Dubai
A wooden Venetian blind gives you something a curtain cannot: control over the direction of the light rather than just the amount of it. Tilt the slats and you keep the view, lose the glare and stop anyone seeing in, all at once. We cut and assemble them to your window size in our own Dubai workshop. Real wood, usually basswood, has visible grain, takes a stain beautifully and stays straight across a wide window, which suits living rooms, bedrooms, studies and majlis rooms. Faux wood is a composite slat finished to look like timber: heavier, so it spans less, but it will not warp, swell or discolour with moisture and heat, which makes it the safer choice for kitchens, bathrooms and windows that take hard afternoon sun. In a Dubai villa we often specify real wood through the main rooms and faux wood in the wet areas and on the west elevation; finished in the same colour, most people cannot tell them apart from across the room. Slats come in 25mm, 50mm and 63mm. Wider slats give a cleaner view and fewer lines but stack deeper at the top when raised, so 50mm suits most windows and 63mm looks better on full-height glazing. For any room a child uses we fit cordless or motorised as standard, because looped cords are the hazard rather than the blind itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are wooden blinds suitable for Dubai climate?
Real wood is fine in air-conditioned, dry rooms, which is most of a Dubai home. In bathrooms, kitchens and anywhere with steam or sustained direct sun, faux wood is the safer choice because it will not warp or discolour.
What is the difference between 50mm and 63mm slats?
63mm slats give a wider, cleaner view when open and fewer visible lines, but they stack deeper at the top when raised. 50mm is the usual choice and suits most windows.
Do wooden blinds block out all light?
No. Even closed, a small amount of light passes between the slats and around the edges. For a bedroom, pair the blind with a blackout curtain, or use a blackout roller instead.
Can I get wooden blinds for a very wide window?
Yes, but beyond a certain width a single blind becomes heavy and the slats can bow. We usually split the opening into two or three blinds sharing one headrail, so it still reads as one treatment.
Are wooden blinds safe for children rooms?
Cordless and motorised versions are, and those are what we fit as standard in children rooms. Looped lift cords are the hazard and we avoid them where children are in the room.
How do I clean wooden blinds?
Close the slats and dust them with a soft brush or a vacuum brush head, then repeat with the slats tilted the other way. Faux wood also takes a damp cloth. Avoid soaking real wood.
Do you make other blinds as well?
Yes, including roller, Roman, zebra and vertical blinds, all made to measure. Many Dubai homes end up with a mix: wooden Venetians in the living areas, rollers in bedrooms behind curtains, and faux wood in the wet rooms.
